PERSONAL STATEMENT

DSCN1421.jpg

I love to create environments. As an artist, as well as a garden designer, I bring a unique quality and vision to my work. Being an artist, I can readily picture in my mind's eye the look of a project or small garden I want to create. Using my drawing ability to develop master plans, or simple sketches, I can create an easy dialog in which both client and I can determine the desired effect. I love creating safe, cozy, quiet spaces in nature in which one can sit and reflect or entertain friends. I specialize in building stone walls, patios, water gardens, gardens for birds and butterflies, garden structures, herb gardens, wild natural-looking gardens, stick fencing, and selecting fun, distinctive garden furniture.

When creating a landscape or a garden room, my style is an organic, more natural approach. I pride myself on years of experience, mostly in the Hudson Valley, mostly as an organic gardener. I have knowledgeable experience with plant material. I select beautiful, healthy plants that when combined correctly, create a sustainable environment for the client to participate in and enjoy.

My work has appeared in Hudson Valley magazine, and was featured in a garden book by Jane Garmey entitled, Private Gardens of the Hudson Valley, with photographs by John M. Hall.
